1. When will the annual grants cycle start?

The annual grants cycle begins with the release on this website of the grant applications, typically in the early spring.

2. What is the maximum grant award amount?

The normal range for a grant award is from $500 to a maximum of $4,000.

3. Does the Foundation offer scholarships or grants to individuals for undergraduate or post-secondary education?

At this time, Catholic Youth Foundation USA does not provide scholarships for undergraduate or post-secondary education.

4. Do I have to be a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization to receive a grant?

Grant funds are distributed only to registered 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. Verification including a Federal Tax ID Number and a 501(c)(3) determination letter from the IRS are required. Catholic organizations listed in The Official Catholic Directory (Kenedy Directory) may cite the page number of their listing in lieu of a 501(c)(3) determination letter.

5. Does the Foundation offer grants to oversees organizations?

As the mandate of the Foundation is to serve the young Church in the United States, the Foundation cannot consider applications or requests for funds that originate outside of the United State, nor those proposed for use primaraly outside of the United States.

6. Will the Foundation fund an activity that has already taken place?

The Foundation Board of Directors has made it the official policy of the Foundation not to make grants to fund or reimburse projects which have already taken place. Any request for funds should be made for events which will take place after the time when grants are awarded (usually late January or early February). For example, if your event takes place in early January, an application should apply for money during the previous year's grants cycle.
